The promoter Oscar de la Hoya questions if Devin Haney can return from the brutal twelve rounds of punishment he suffered in his fight against Ryan García last April. The 1992 Olympic gold medalist of the Hoya says that when the fighters are hit as severely as Haney (31-0, 15 kos) was, it was, “Don’t recover” be the same.

Recovery questioned
Oscar predicts that Haney will fall apart in his next fight against José Ramírez on May 2 on the Fatal Fury card in Times Square in New York City, long before he and Ryan would fight in October. If what is true that Haney needs to defeat Ramírez (29-2, 19 kos) to obtain the lucrative rematch with Kingry, the second fight will not happen.
Turki Alalshikh would still have to be willing to make the rematch García vs. Haney 2 in less favorable conditions. Maybe I would. If this fight is just entertainment and non -sports, no matter if Haney is expelled from the water by former WBC WBC weight champion and Wbo Light Ramírez.
Ending what remains
Simply continue and throw Haney with Ryan anyway and enjoy the show. I hope Ramírez Ends what remains of Devin On May 2, and complete what Garcia began last April. Ramírez works three minutes of each round without resting breaks as Ryan does, and if Haney hurts, that’s all, the ending game. He will not take the rest of the round to recover his breath.
“Coming from the perspective of a fighter when you come from a devastating defeat against Ryan García, it is difficult to return from something like that,” said Oscar de la Hoya to Fight Hub TVquestioning if Devin Haney will be the same fighter after the beating of the twelve rounds he received against Ryan García in 2024.
It is obvious why Haney has not fought since his defeat against Ryan last April. He probably expects the free year to allow his head of those punishment punishment with which he was beaten for twelve rounds. In retrospect, Bill Haney should have taken Devin out of the fight after the seventh round because it was a lost cause. I was helpless after that round, used as a boxing bag for Ryan, who enjoyed pouring it into his nemesis beaten.
Haney psyche
“When they hit you when (José) Ramírez gets a blow or two or three, does (Haney) go differently before fighting Ryan or after fighting him? So, the psyche is interesting when they hit him, how he is beaten, how he recovers or may not recover.
“There is a big difference to be beaten once, rolling and rising again. Then, be beaten, staggered, hurt and be beaten. There is a big difference with that, ”said the Hoya talking about what happened with Haney in his fight with Ryan. “You don’t recover from that. It is difficult.
“Look, it will still be a good fight. He took a free year, supported his body, his mind and soul. Maybe, we will surprise us all, ”said De la Hoya about Devin.
