The promoter Eddie Hearn says that he hopes that the super medium medium contender Edgar Berlanga (22-1, 17 kos) will stay with Matchroom Boxing after completing his final fight of his contract this Saturday, March 15 against Jonathan González-Ortiz (20-0-1, 16 kos) in his fight in the Caribbean Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida.
Berlanga’s fight against González-Ortiz, 35, is in the chest of the Austin ‘Mune’ Williams vs. card. Patrice Volny. The event will be shown Live in Dazn. According to Manouk Akopyan, Berlanga is not happy with him on the billboard. However, Hearn says he tried to make a deal with Edgar to fight at the place of the head of the poster in Puerto Rico.
He spoke with Dazn about the idea, but “they ran out of time.” Then, Hearn returned to the contract. He says that the contract has a provision for a fight back on a billboard.

After the fight back from Berlanga next Saturday, Hearn says he wants to match him against Caleb Plant or Jermall Charlo then if he stays with his company. It is not clear if Edgar would be interested in fighting any of those guys, because he mentioned wanting to fight Jaime Munguia in PPV.
Berlanga says that the contest would be Mexico against Puerto Rico, and believes that a victory over Munguia would open the door to a rematch with Canelo Álvarez. Edgar lost to Canelo for a unanimous 12 rounds decision on September 14 of last year. They paid a reported $ 10 million. So, it is understandable why I would like a rematch.
Hearn wants ‘the elected one’ Berlanga, 27, to stay with Matchroom for the rest of his career, but does not seem to do so. I probably expect Turki Alalshikh to sign it in his new boxing league.
