Delivering ‘Best Fight the Best’: Alalshikh & White’s Vision for Boxing’s Future

Turki Alalshikh and the president of UFC, Dana White, have created a new boxing promotion. The format is ‘the best fight, the best’.

Ideally, the new company formed by Turki and White will work with the other promoters to organize large events and eliminate the four sanctioning bodies of the alphabet (IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO) once and for all. Fair Make them obsolete.

Where would you leave this to all the fighters promoted by the first -rank promotions, boxing of the phosphorus room and the promotions of golden children? Will they be excluded from the fights against the fighters of the Turki-White promotional company if they plan to follow an isolated league, UFC format? If it will only be like a league race in isolation, it will probably not work.

Fan -driven fights

It would be good for fans to have a league that completely eliminates the four sanctioning bodies and has a governing body classified by the fight. However, if a group of combatants is still operating outside this new company, it will fragment the sport even more than it is.

According to the ring tweet, the plan is that the new company follow the UFC model of Dana White. For fans who follow MMA, there are many combatants who do not with the UFC competing for other promotions.

Then, if the new Turkish-Blanca company uses the UFC format, they will fight with their combatants. That might not work in boxing without a much larger group of combatants that can compete. I would make it look more like a professional struggle where there is a small handful of popular combatants who compete with each other frequently.

For years, we have seen how different promoters rarely, if ever, collaborate with other promotional companies to organize cross promotion events and cross networks. Will the new Turki-Dana company get the problem worse?

If this new promotional company only carries out competitions among its own fighters, it will disperse and confuse fans and not improve sport. The fights will look like celebrity matches. What could contaminate it is whether Dana White begins to place her popular MMA combatants in hybrid boxing matches, and puts terrible mismatches that are more competitive fighters similar to circus.

Fans are not clear about this new promotion for sport. Will it be an isolated company, like Dana’s with the UFC, in fights with only its fighters? In other words, it would be like a league, similar to the way in which the American Football League operated from 1960 to 1970 before merging with the NFL.
